Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 334: 5/25/24: F1 24 Edition
I somewhat liked the little of it that I played, and plan on playing it again when I’m more in the mood for it. But I’ve been kind of depressed lately due to all of my health related issues, so I haven’t really been in the mood to play anything. Very sorry to hear that. Praying you get out of the f...

Played recently: FlatOut 4: Total Insanity, Windbound Finished: nothing Added to backlog: nothing Current backlog: 35 I finished the first of the three groups of competitions in FlatOut 4, with "derby" cars. I started the second and quickly learned that it has the same courses, and decided...

Played recently: Axiom Verge 2, FlatOut 4: Total Insanity Finished: Axiom Verge 2 Added to backlog: nothing Current backlog: 35 AV2 was really enjoyable. Exactly the kind of game I was looking to play at that moment. Well done, Tom Happ. I was scrolling through the latest PSN sale and saw a FlatOut ...

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 330: 4/27/24: Endless Ocean Luminous Edition
I don't know the criteria for "Steam Deck Verified", but I would assume they're looking for low-friction types of things that are mostly install-and-play. The Deck obviously has way more than enough horsepower to run Morrowind, but it was designed with M&KB and isn't natively controll...

Played recently: Axiom Verge 2 Finished: nothing Added to backlog: nothing Current backlog: 35 I've played a whole lot of AV2. What a great game. Really impressive how it does the Metroivania thing, doling out new powers/systems that give you access to new areas. I'd guess I'm in the final quarter o...

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 330: 4/27/24: Endless Ocean Luminous Edition
Morrowind has already got its hooks in me. You start off wonderfully ineffectual, and that "hero's journey" arc is always something I find very compelling. It reminds me of ELEX in how powerless you feel in the beginning, both in terms of actual ability as well as dwarfed by the possibili...

Played recently: The Messenger, Hollow Knight, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2, Axiom Verge 2 Finished: nothing Added to backlog: nothing Current backlog: 35 I had to bail on The Messenger because of the thumb-destroying double jump mechanic. What a shame... that game seems truly great. Seeking an...

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 330: 4/27/24: Endless Ocean Luminous Edition
I really liked Borderlands 1, 2 and The Pre-Sequel, but I didn’t like 3 as much because the story and characters were mid, the levels were linear and the difficulty wasn’t balanced for playing it solo with a ridiculous amount of enemies to fight and bosses that were bullet sponges clearly designed ...
