The Backlog Check-in Vol. 295: 8/26/23: Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle/Sea of Stars/Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy Edition

Played: Dragon Age II, Elex, Need For Speed Heat, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Finished: Nothing Playing: Need For Speed Heat Added: Nothing I’ve been playing Need For Speed Heat, and it’s actually quite good. It’s the best NFS game in years. It reminds me a lot of Most Wanted (2005) which is my favorite NF...

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 294: 8/19/23: Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Edition

That looks a whole heck of a lot better than Kingdom Hearts, I’ve been waiting for it for years and I’m glad that it finally has a release date. It’s going to be my birthday game since it comes out just a few days before my birthday.

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 294: 8/19/23: Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Edition

I have to admit, phase, I don't understand your requirement to play as a female, but if that's what makes you happy. I just want to play fun games, and ELEX was a really fun game to me. It had its issues, and Jax is a gruff, generic avatar at the outset, but the world is huge, a blast to explore, a...

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 294: 8/19/23: Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Edition

I started playing Elex, and I already quit because you play as a generic gravely/gruff speaking bald space marine alpha male type character which I found unappealing immediately. If you played as a female character or could choose to play as one then I would have stuck with it, because it seems like...

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 294: 8/19/23: Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Edition

It's kind of funny we're talking about Ubi. I had been thinking about finally playing Prince of Persia (2008) since I've had it forever. Granted it's not one of their "flagship" series, but I've thought I would enjoy that one. I only played the original (reboot) on PS2, despite having War...

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 294: 8/19/23: Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Edition

I love creations driven by passion and sincerity, and *I* don't find that in Ubi's work, generally speaking. And I'm not new to the Ubi hate. I was setting the trends man! :P You can check my post history - not sure if here or elsewhere. Again, to be fair, I've got no issue with anyone enjoying the...

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 294: 8/19/23: Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Edition

I don't think I'm an expert on Ubisoft games. I just know what appeals to me and, generally speaking, Ubi's stuff isn't it. I've not played tons of their games, to be fair (although more than 1, ha), but I educate myself about games as a part of my ongoing interest and involvement with this hobby, ...

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 294: 8/19/23: Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Edition

I like to know where I am going and staying on the path with slight deviations of my choosing. Yakuza is PERFECT for what I like. Substory to plot to wander this small dense area with minigames back to plot at my pace. Such a good system. I also like checklists. The murder list in Assassin's Creed ...

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 294: 8/19/23: Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Edition

the things you described about not liking in Divinity are precisely what I am looking for. I want something slower paced at this point and Midnight Suns showed me that a slower pace could be cool and with some good writing possibly great! I loved the tactical battles and still getting to see cool i...

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 294: 8/19/23: Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Edition

Ys IX really picks up in chapter 4, it starts to feel like the previous Ys games a little more with you finally getting to leave the city and traverse the more organic outskirts surrounding it. The dungeons also get better, and you get Anemona/Doll who is a great character who kind of reminds me of ...
