Played: Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Finished: Nothing

Playing: Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Purchased: Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Kingdom Come: Deliverance really has its hooks in me, it's definitely a hardcore RPG. The prologue took me five hours, and was really good. After that the game really opens up like a traditional open world game, think Oblivion when you go outside for the first time. After the rather cinematic prologue things seemed to be a little dull and slow at first since there didn't seem to be a lot to do, but it wasn't long until the activities, quests and side quests started piling up.

I previously said that I wasn't sure that it was worth picking up on day one for $60+, but now I'm starting to feel that it was because it's what I'm in the mood to play, there was another big patch released on Thursday that seems to have cleaned up some of the bugs, glitches and jank a bit, I'm learning the overall mechanics of everything more (which is adding to my enjoyment of it) and it seems to be packed with content. It's also really deep without handholding, or streamlining. It tells you how to do things, but in a non intrusive way. It lets you experiment, and kind of figure things out on your own.

While it offers a cinematic story and quests, it also feels somewhat like a medieval simulation RPG where you start off as a normal guy that's not really skilled in anything so you kind of suck at fist fighting, sword fighting, archery, lock picking, pickpocketing, persuasion, etc. and slowly improve in all of those areas the more that you do them in the game. You also have to eat and sleep. There's a lot of player choice too, so it doesn't feel scripted. It just feels different from a lot of other RPGs, and won't appeal to everyone with its more realistic approach to everything. I even admit that I wasn't sure that it was for me at first, but after putting some good time into it and learning things more it clicked with me and now I'm addicted.

Metal Gear Survive and Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet come out next week.

Games added: Warriors All-Stars, Evil Within 2, Secret of Mana HD

Last week: Finished Symphony of the Night (again! :P), played Monster Hunter World

This week: More MHW, and I want to start Evil Within 2. Not sure what my next portable game will be, I have a few ideas but haven't settled on anything yet.

Still really enjoying MHW. Most ppl on my friends list are still playing it too, so that helps. Game is insanely deep, and the further you play the deeper it gets. I've got probably between 80-100 hours in, and a friend that I play with that's just a little further in than I am tells me that once I pass an upcoming part the game will "start for real".

Finished: Shadow of the Colossus PS4

Now Playing: Virtue's Last Reward, Shadow of the Colossus PS4

Added to Backlog: Song of the Deep PSN, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

Current Backlog: 31 games

I beat SotC a couple times last week and still have a few more before I can get all of the trophies. Both Time Attacks are now complete and I finally beat #3 on Hard Time Attack (first time in any of the 3 versions)! He's tough!

But have you found all the hidden coins??? :P

Played this week: Horizon Zero Dawn

Finished this week: Horizon Zero Dawn

Added to backlog this week: nothing

Current backlog: 37 (12 PS4, 11 Vita, 7 PS2, 5 3DS, 2 PS3)

I haven't played anything since beating Horizon. I'm on vacation next week, so if I start a game on console it'll be a short one like Firewatch. I'll also get something going on the portable side for the flight.

I knew you were going to ask that...

I've found a couple on my own, but I'm not sure I'll go for all of them and the reward for doing that. I think I'll be happy with just the platinum trophy.

I've been playing Rime (nice that it was free on + since I was interested anyway) and it has been an enjoyable game. Very beautiful and otherworldly sense of place. I think I'm about done.

I've also been playing Terraria, and I'm starting to get into that quite a bit. A bit overwhelming at first, but I'm getting into the flow.

I also have been playing the "choose-your-own-adventure" turned into a digital experience in The Forest of Doom, and I've really been enjoying that as well.

I had been playing Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter, and I put a lot of time into that one, but ultimately bounced off it. It's a good game, but has some problems that prevented me from loving it as much as I wanted to. If I do my year-end review this year, I'll go into it.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Since Izzy was mentioning PS+ freebies for the month, let me recommend trying out Grand Kingdom for your portable game Cane. I fired it back up last night after having loved the demo but then never playing the full game (even tho I've had it since launch...) and I quickly remembered why I had loved it so much. No idea why I never got around to playing it tho. ;)

Just letting you guys know that I'm re-posting my 2017 list/reviews on gaf @ https://www.neogaf.com/threads/my-2017- ... w.1461059/ , if any of you are still interested or wanted to see the final few games. (I forgot where I was at on our old site, but I know I was close to the end.)

Nothing against our site here, but we seem to be a bit nomadic with the passage of time, and I didn't feel like doing it all again only to lose it.

Without the previous site's content, this site is a shell of its former self IMO.
