Re: Argyle's GOTY 2023 Thread!

I don't want to discourage anyone from playing Starfield because it IS a good game. But keeping expectations in check is key. ;) I think I blew through Nuclear Blaze in a couple of days over 2 or *maybe* 3 normal-length game sessions. That said, it's still well worth playing, just keep an eye out f...

Re: Argyle's GOTY 2023 Thread!

It's hard from me to know what to think about Starfield, given the general reception. On the one hand, I generally love Bethesda's open-world rpgs. On the other, I can see the scope being a detriment rather than a positive, as you and many others have touched on. I'll pick it up one day cheap...some...

I played Far : Lone Sails a couple days ago. Was a really nice, if brief, wordless adventure. Easy recommend for any who like games that get out of the way and just leave you to discover and experience on your own. Thread title reminds me that I want to pick up the TR 1-3 remasters. (Why aren't they...

Re: Argyle's GOTY 2023 Thread!

I didn't know Fantavision had a sequel. I've only played the original for a few minutes. Maybe I ought to rectify that.

I have Ryse in my backlog. I thought it always looked really good, but I know it's got kind of a mixed reception.

Re: Argyle's GOTY 2023 Thread!

Fairy Fencer F: Refrain Chord But that wasn’t what really killed it for me. The first game had explorable dungeons, as you would expect, but this game is completely menu driven. You never move your characters anywhere in the world - towns, dungeons, overworld, everything is just a menu selection. T...

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 318: 2/3/24: Helldivers II Edition

I foolishly dropped my Steam Deck with my inability to zip up the case. The L buttons don't work and the d pad is all kinds of messed up. Right does nothing and up and down are reversed. I tried to remove the back and see if I couldn't fix it but the last screw stripped. The repair place said remov...

That's an excellent way to put it. January is the Monday of the year. I have the list, just gotta flesh out some thoughts - gonna try to do that this week. :) Well...get to it! https://media.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExcmpiMmphbndhODZleTY2Nm96eHVnODAxMmF2dzMxOXRhZGZhem1xNCZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hb...

That is super appealing to me. Maybe in retirement I'll transition into a PC neckbeard type and give it a go. https://y.yarn.co/5a1344c5-7b72-46f8-b9a1-81f95da44033_text.gif :P Yes, I think you'd really enjoy it. It seems very much in line with much of what you've enjoyed over the years. As for mys...

Re: 2024 Movie Discussion Thread

But that said, it was painfully clear that A.I. was the work of 2 minds and it made for a very uneven experience. Well, really three, if you count the author of the 1969 short story. And as much as I love Kubrick, I *really* don't think Spielberg could have ever done this dystopian / trans-human ta...

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 318: 2/3/24: Helldivers II Edition

I finished up Boku no Natsuyasumi 2. What a *ridiculously* charming game. Any who are willing to emulate and like the idea of an off-beat, life-sim / childhood summer vacation, easy-breezy type of experience really ought to try it out. I spent a little over 19 hours with it, but I had time passage s...
