The Backlog Check-in Vol. 92: 10/5/19: Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince Edition

Played: Ghost Recon: Wildlands
Finished: Nothing
Playing: Ghost Recon: Wildlands
I'm still playing Ghost Recon: Wildlands, and still enjoying it. It's the type of game that I know is going to be fun when I play it, but it has its frustrating moments as well due to not having mission checkpoints and long load times when you die or fail a mission. It also has a rather repetitive gameplay loop and the story is paper thin just providing enough reason to do the missions, but the core gameplay is a lot of fun and the unscripted stuff that constantly happens while playing is often exciting, thrilling, or humorous.
The game world is big and varied which keeps the environments feeling somewhat fresh when you enter a new region. The world is completely open from the start, but has several different regions that have a specific enemy in them that you need to capture, interrogate, or kill. You have to do all of the missions in a specific region to get to the enemy in that region. Different regions have different difficulties from one to five skulls, so you'll want to clear the regions from easiest to hardest since there's a leveling and skill upgrade system. I'm in the four skulls regions now, and there's still a lot of game left to play.
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince comes out this week.
