The Backlog Check-in Vol. 356: 10/26/24: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Edition
Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 356: 10/26/24: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Edition
Played recently: Dragon Quest Builders 2
Finished: nothing
Added to backlog: nothing
Current backlog: 44
I finally decided to jump back into DQ Builders 2... I had stopped about 10 hours in when Ghost of Tsushima came out. I started fresh this time and it's really hitting the spot, just like the first one did when I played it on Vita. Mix of DQ charm with Dark Cloudish town building and Stardew Valley farming. I'll be playing this one for a while.

Games added: Nothing, I think
Last week: Finished nothing, played Vampire Survivors and Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
This week: Same.
I'm having a procedure done today - nothing major, but still, thoughts & prayers are appreciated.

Well, I hope your remaining testicle proves sufficient.
Seriously though, all the good vibes to you, phase and all the rest of us doing continuous battle against the slow, inevitable creep of entropy.
On a gaming note, I fired up No one Lives Under the Lighthouse for one of my Halloween gaming vibe titles. It's got excellent atmosphere and fits the season nicely in its isolated and spooky tone. It doesn't seem to be too long. I've played a little more than a couple hours and seem to be very near the end. But if you're like me and enjoy low-poly PS1-style horror, it's surely worth the small asking price. (I think it's under $2 on sale right now.)
Dragon kick your a$$ into the Milky Way!

Happy to report everything went well, and I'm still here.
Since Alan Wake II fell through I have been playing Harmony of Dissonance as my Halloween game this year. It's the last of the Advance Collection Castlevanias that I hadn't played yet. I'm a good ways in now, and it's good but not great. At this point, I'd say Aria of Sorrow is the best of the GBA trilogy. Not sure exactly how far in I am, but I'd guesstimate at least half way. My one complaint with the actual port so far is that they didn't add in a way to lower or turn off the volume of the music. That GBA sound chip was rough, and even though they claim this is some kind of enhanced sound it's still kinda grating at times.
I ordered the physical cart of the latest Dominus Collection from Limited Run, so it will be here sometime next year. I've actually played 2 of the 3 DS Castlevanias, and I've started the 3rd one a few times but it's very hard (at least to my old reflexes) so I never made it far - the rewind should help remedy that problem. I will be replaying the 2 I've already played, because I really enjoyed those - especially Portrait of Ruin.
Also, they finally announced a remastered port of Xenoblade Chronicles X to the Switch yesterday, so now I can get rid of my Wii U.

Happy Halloween, amigos!
Glad to hear it! Belated prayers!
Windwaker remake is still locked away on that thing, no? Freakin Nintendo...

Ah, yeah, you're right - of course, by the time I get around to wanting to play it again I'm sure it will have been ported too.
