Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 410: 11/8/25: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Edition
Hey. I have been playing some games!
Played: Bakeru, Little Noah: Scion of Paradise
Beat: HA!
Bought: Nothing. Humble Choice didn't hit me at all for October. But Another Crab's Treasure and Etrian Odyssey are on tap for November. I am getting way pickier with what I buy. I just don't have the time and this huge ass backlog because I chow down during sales knowing damn good and well those games are not getting played. So slowing down aside from like Humble Choice has been good thus far
.
This week: more of the same.
Bakeru is very Goemon/Mystical Ninja coded. VERY. It's an unusually long one of these 3D platformer collectathons, a genre I typically avoid. I like the combat, there's way too many moves and you are really overpowered but it's breezy for train play. If you like anything I said, grab it cheap.
But Little Noah is way outside my wheelhouse. Monster collecting, roguelike chibi style with edgelord bad guys? Normally nah. BUT it's really addicting. The gimmick is you are repairing an airship and there's this cat that snatches you back from death to your airship wreckage every time you die to go explore again with monster familiars fighting for you. I am not doing it justice. It's like a baby's version of a roguelike and I have been enjoying the runs fairly consistently. It's another great pass time, pick up and play, one more run type thing. I dig it. And if it's cheap, I think y'all would dig it too.
Hope all's well, friends!

Happy Veteran's Day!
Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake has been completed in 26:23...took me longer than most as I got to level 50, defeated all monsters, got all spells/abilities, and got all items/weapons/armor. Going to take a break with another game (either Powerwash Simulator 2 or Once Upon a Katamari) before diving into Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake.

The Machine strikes again. (I miss the old machine emoji. And the angry Kratos.
Is there a platinum for DQ I, or do you need to finish both games?
Thanks for the word! Adding it to my wishlist.crimson_tide wrote: ↑Mon Nov 10, 2025 10:53 am But Little Noah is way outside my wheelhouse. Played recently: Borderlands 4
Finished: Borderlands 4
Added to backlog: nothing
I got the credits in B4 last week and have been wrapping up side stuff and collectibles since then. One of the glitched areas was fixed the last time I went there, so maybe there's hope.
Unfortunately, I crushed my glasses over the weekend, and there's no way I could see anything on that Borderlands UI without them. Going to try to get them fixed today. Hope I don't have to do the whole thing with eye exam and whatnot.

Haha, those emojis were fun.
Both games share a trophy list, so you have to beat both for the platinum. DQ 1 has 17 trophies, DQ 2 has 28 trophies, and then there are 3 (including the platinum) that you can get for either game.

Sheesh, where have I been? Didn't realize I hadn't posted for almost two weeks now.
Games added: Touken Ranbu Warriors, Sand Land, Bakeru, Absolum
Last...whatever: Finished Ghost of Yotei, played Absolum and more DRG:S
This week: Trying to settle on something
Yotei was good, but way too long for what it was. I clocked 76 hours, no plat - and I'm not going back to find the last few things I'm missing because I'm missing the things that the game won't guide you to. Screw that. The game was good, but it could have been around 40 for a complete playthrough and that would have been plenty. Felt padded. And J, did it bug you too
Outside of that, just trying to find something to play next. Something that's more gameplay than story (as is my way, it would seem). Might go ahead & give Bakeru a go based on Crim's post - I had had my eye on it for a while now, and threw it into my order w/ Absolum to get free shipping. Speaking of, I've played very little of that, but it seems good so far. Not sure if it's what I'm up for right now or not. I played a little of that Touken game last night, and I think this screenshot I captioned sums up my feelings on it so far:

I mean, that was REALLY ridiculous IMO. It's possible that I'm becoming way to jaded for these AAA story-focused action/adventure games. There's a formula, and even when they're done really well like this one was, it's hard not to see that formula & recognize it as something you've done a hundred times before.
