Games added: Mortal Kombat 1 Ultimate Ed.

Last week: Played around with a few things, but mainly focused on Absolum & Bakeru

This week: Same. Might start something new that's more story-focused, not sure. Sand Land? I'm also playing some MK1

MK1 w/ all the DLC went on sale for $20, that was my price. The $10 cert I had earned from doing the Microsoft monthly stuff helped too. Pretty fun so far. The wife commented and I agree that I think they actually toned down the gore a touch. I mean, it's still bloody, but some of the stuff from the last game was genuinely hard to watch (and some of the devs reported experiencing ptsd from the stuff they had to research in order to create it :? ).

Absolum is a lot of fun, combining a beat-em-up with a rogue lite just makes so much sense that it's surprising no one has done it before (as far as I know, anyway). It is pretty tough, but there are difficulty options I can adjust if it gets too much. We'll see. Oh, and there are nods to Golden Axe in it, nothing wrong with that. :)

Crim was right, Bakeru is a lot of breezy fun. Super colorful, I love the bright aesthetic combined with the traditional Japanese art stylings. The game is very Japanese in general - there's even a "collectable" that's a character you find hidden around areas that tells you random, weird trivia about Japan.

That's one I've been drawn to for obvious reasons (Toriyama RPG), but I have no idea what it actually is or if it's any good. So please go first and tell me. :P

Played recently: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

Finished: nothing

Added to backlog: nothing

I've only had a couple of hours with DQ3 (I got a job last week and thus no longer have unlimited free time), but what I played was great. Hope to get back to it tonight.

The demo didn't wow me, but I saw a video that specifically said the demo didn't do it justice and that it's a very good game. The guy said he hated the demo and was expecting it to suck based on that. I'm leaning towards giving it a go, so I'll report back with my findings. ;)

Absolum is great but very hard. Or I suck. Or both. It seems like it would be better co-op, but I may have to set it aside for now and come back to it later.

Congratulations, or would that be...Congratulations? :P

Are you still in the same field? (copy editing, was it, right?) Or have you upgraded?

:P

No shame in that, though, of course.

Same field. Perfect gig for me (part-time, remote, work whenever I want, amazing company with a great mission and wonderful people). The pay is so-so, but I'm not complaining given everything else and the dearth of editing jobs out there.
