I'm having a much harder time getting in gaming time now that I'm working again. We're talking maybe 3-4 hours last week? I'm not complaining, just explaining. Anyway, DQ3 is fun!
Games added: Hello Kitty Island Adventure (switch) (don't judge me!), System of Souls (ps5), Shinobi (switch), 7 Years of Shadows (switch), Atelier Ryza DX Trilogy (ps5), Shadow of Rome (PS2!!! )
Last week: Finished Clover Pit (good ending), played HKIA & started the first Atelier Ryza (but haven't gotten far yet)
This week: So far, mainly HKIA & the occasional Clover Pit round to do some of the extra stuff (and get my daily MS points )
Have I talked about Clover Pit? It's basically Balatro meets Inscription, and it's really good. It's a slot machine rogue like w/ some interesting meta stuff surrounding it. Whole game is a commentary on gambling (spoiler: it ain't good). Fun time if you like this sort of rogue-lites or either of the 2 games I mentioned.
HKIA was more or less my only Black Friday purchase (I also grabbed some stuff from a local mom & pop used game/retro toy/music/movie store, but that was from trade-in credit so not really a purchase per se). I got it mainly for the humor of it at first - for anyone that doesn't know, it's an old South Park reference from the World of Warcraft episode, and the developer was apparently inspired by their joke to make the actual game. It's surprisingly good though. Very mellow, as one would expect, but it's more-or-less Animal Crossing w/ Hello Kitty characters.
I grabbed Shadow of Rome from that mom & pop store I mentioned, it's basically mint. I played it back in the day (it's a Capcom joint), but I don't remember ever finishing it. I know I enjoyed what I played though, so I'd like to play it again sooner rather than later. Just gotta get my PS3 hooked back up.

if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I
became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the
desire to be very grown up.” ― C.S. Lewis
Played: Bakeru ( I REALLY like this now...weird because straight platformers that aren't Sonic or Kirby kinda wash over me after a few hours. But I feel like finishing this one. I even found one of the collectibles fun to search for).
Beat: Nothing
Bought: Nothing (these sales are very overwhelming now, it's a chore to sift through and then I get analysis paralysis so I opted out this time. Felt pretty good . Will try during the winter sale probably )
Bakeru is hitting right now. Going to see it through at this point. Gotta be more than halfway done. It's very pick up and play. Good stuff from a genre I genre don't care about!

Ha, don't worry, I won't judge. I put it on my wishlist when I first saw it. I was drawn to the mellow / chill vibe as well. I have no experience with the universe other than knowing it was/is? very popular, but I thought it looked like a fun and relaxing time as well.

I started up Shantae : 1/2 Genie Hero recently. I had never played an entry in this franchise, but I was in the mood for a platformer and this one called my name. I'm really enjoying it so far. It's got a nice variety of gameplay due to character transformations as well as some fun hidden secrets. And the gameplay is tight and responsive and has been decently challenging in parts already. Good stuff. And there seems to be nice replay incentive, so we'll see how that unfolds.
Of course, it goes without saying that I'm playing OOTP constantly. If I'm not in the midst of GMing/Managing, I'm tinkering with things mentally - planning the future - roster management, considering who will be fixtures on this team in the future and who we'll move for other assets. My entire organization is in a very good place right now in season 6 of the USBL. I've got many guys who are more than ready for call ups to the show, but I've got such a good and entrenched 26 already on the biggest stage, so I've got lots of decisions to make in the upcoming off-season. But most guys are the verge of pushing through are under team control for a good number of years into the future. I've had some good drafts and trades, which has certainly helped too. Don't get me wrong though, I've made a good number of pretty regrettable moves when impatience has gotten the best of me. I try to keep a "marathon not a sprint" lens on to keep everything in context, but human emotion can sometimes be a weakness that has gotten the best of me with a few guys.
As for this season, we're currently on a 16 game winning streak, have the best record in the entire Liberty Bell and the best run differential (tied) in the entire USBL. We are HUMMING!!! This may be the year. I don't want to get too excited, but man are we looking tight! I've had a heavy focus on a nice blend of raw talent mixed with intangibles since the beginning, as I always do. I look for guys who are intelligent, have high work ethic as well as finding the right leaders/captains to really bring the whole team vibe together. Sometimes I'll make an exception for certain players who aren't loyal or are may be greedy, but I always make sure to avoid the selfish and dumb guys, lol. If we get it done in this 1966 season it will have only taken about 800 hours. To be fair, I manage every single game, every single at bat and even on a pitch-by-pitch basis in high-leverage situations. Some people like to roster build, set strategy and just sim through things, but I like the slow burn grind that really puts me in the baseball spirit. So yeah, I'm good, I'm gone.
Was traveling for Thanksgiving, but I have returned. That meant no gaming time last week, so I have nothing to report...other than picking up Octopath Traveler 0 tomorrow.
